Why You Should Care

Once elected in San Francisco, a safe Democratic district, it’s very hard if not impossible to remove representatives from office. So, paying attention to who is running in the once-in-a-blue moon-competitive election is crucial. Congressional reps wield a lot of power at the local level when they’re involved.

Our Vision for Members of Congress

We believe members of Congress should be accomplished individuals who work to better the interests of their constituents and of the State of California.

A Note About Our Candidate Choices

We love that San Francisco uses ranked-choice voting, which allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference. This election, we've only endorsed one candidate per office (or seat, in this case), since we believe in them so wholeheartedly that we do not recommend you rank any additional candidates.

Why we're voting for her: Nancy Pelosi has led the Democratic party through more than 30 years of ups and downs, including through the Trump administration and guiding the Affordable Care Act through Congress. She is a demonstrated and competent Speaker of the House. Federal offices are ones in which experience in leadership really does matter. While we share reservations about having representatives in Congress who are incredibly wealthy and out of touch with the average resident, Speaker Pelosi is someone who wields her power and influence to consistently deliver outcomes, not just for San Franciscans but for our entire nation. Her negotiation skills are unmatched in Congress and San Francisco is lucky to have her representing us.

District 12 includes most of San Francisco, with the exception of the southern part of the Sunset, Oceanview, and West Portal.
Why we're voting for him: Mullin and his opponent David Canepa have very similar experiences, but we find Mullin’s to be more compelling because he has served in the State Assembly since 2014. Serving in the Assembly gave him experience representing a broader constituency, and we know he was able to work with colleagues because he was given a leadership role there as the Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore. Mullin is running for the seat that opened when Rep. Jackie Speir retired. Speir was an effective legislator and served her constituents well. We believe her endorsement of Mullin matters in this race. Lastly, we like that one of his top three priorities will be to increase the supply of housing at all income levels. We look forward to seeing him deliver on this promise.

This congressional representative represents most of San Mateo and a sliver of San Francisco.
