United States President

What is the President of the United States?

  • The President of the United States (POTUS) is responsible for representing the country on an international stage, and for protecting our national interests both domestically and abroad

  • The President is responsible for setting national policy and for controlling things like the country’s economy and developmental priorities

  • The President is responsible for leading their political party and setting the tone for national conversations on all issues

  • The President is paid $400,000 annually and can serve a maximum of two four-year terms

Why You Should Care

The President of the United States wields enormous power on a global scale. This seat is the pinnacle of American politics—the President influences how we think about politicians locally, and sets an example for what kind of people we can expect to run for office in our city. San Francisco politics got more extreme in reaction to former president Trump’s administration—we’ve seen moderation in recent years as President Biden brought sanity back to the White House.

Our Vision for this Office

The President of the United States should exemplify what it means to be an elected official: pragmatic, results-driven, and willing to compromise in the name of creating the best possible solutions for big problems. A true public servant.

Joe Biden for President of the United States

Why vote for him: Since the November 2020 election, a lot has changed in the United States: COVID-19 has receded as an immediate threat. Millions of Americans are regularly working from home, and the divisiveness and chaos caused by the Trump administration has subsided somewhat. But new problems have arisen, including rising inflation and a changing economy that still hasn’t fully recovered from the pandemic.

President Joe Biden has led the country through all of that. In his four years as President, Biden has passed several enormous legislative packages including the American Rescue Plan, which funded a successful vaccination campaign, reopened schools for in-person instruction, and delivered economic relief to millions of American families.

Biden also delivered the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, which committed $550 billion in federal investments to bolster roads, bridges, water infrastructure, internet and utilities across the country. These investments are projected to create about two million jobs over the course of 10 years while repairing and rebuilding America’s infrastructure.

Furthermore, Biden passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, a landmark law that authorized almost $1 trillion in spending, the majority of which will redirect the economy to incentivize green energy development and climate change. We’re already seeing the results of this badly-needed and long-delayed funding, as clean energy companies ramp up hiring and announce new infrastructure projects.

In short: Do we really need to explain this one? Biden has his priorities straight and has delivered significant wins for Americans in his first term. He is the only serious candidate from either party in the race.
